| Apple tells iTunes users to hold off on Vista | | Posted Wednesday, February 07, 2007 3:04:44 PM by Blog57 Team | | Apple is urging PC users to avoid moving to Windows Vista until it can update its iTunes media player. "ITunes 7.0.2 may work with Vista on many typical PCs, but Apple recommends that customers wait to upgrade Windows until after the next release of iTunes which will be available in the next few weeks," the company stated. Vista users may encounter problems when trying to run iTunes on Microsoft's new operating system. The issues range from slow performance of the iTunes 'cover flow' feature, to being unable to play songs previously purchased from iTunes. There is also the risk of a software corruption on the iPod that could occur when Vista's 'safely remove hardware' feature is used. Users with the 'enable disk use' option turned off could also find themselves unable to update or restore their iPods.... | |

| | | Just Another Mobile Monday Reviews Conduits Pocket Player 3.0 | | Posted Friday, November 10, 2006 3:16:07 PM by Blog57 Team | | "I have a confession to make. I was not enthusiastic about Conduits latest release of Pocket Player. To be honest, I had used previous versions of Pocket Player and they never seemed to work well for me. So, it was with little enthusiasm that I approached the new Pocket Player release. I expected more of the same; a program that would be deleted from my Pocket PC faster than a drive through a one stoplight town. Then, a funny thing happened. The more I used it, the more indispensable I found it. This is not the same Pocket Player I had tried and rejected before. This latest version, offers significant updates from Pocket Player 2.7, including new features, options, bug fixes, and most importantly, a considerably faster user interface. Additionally, unlike previous versions, Pocket Player 3 is now a true all-in-one media player.... | |

| | | New Windows Media Player Shines | | Posted Friday, November 10, 2006 4:18:33 AM by Blog57 Team | | Pop quiz, hotshot. You're a technology conglomerate competing with Apple Computer for a share of the multimedia market space. The last few versions of your media software have played second fiddle to the iTunes party train, causing you to lose both money and street cred. What do you do? You release the first major redesign of Windows Media Player in more than two years. The 11th version of Microsoft's Windows Media Player hit Windows XP desktops Monday like an out-of-control city bus. No, we haven't got a wooden Keanu Reeves to save the day, but we do have some solid evidence of Microsoft's effort to bring sexy back to the media player. Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery The first thing you'll notice about this incarnation of WMP is how aesthetically similar it is to iTunes: the brushed metal skins, the configuration of the controls, and even the way the media files are arranged are all suspiciously similar to Apple's powerhouse player.... | |

| | | GirlsGoneMobile Photo Review The rx4540 Mobile Media Companion | | Posted Tuesday, November 07, 2006 11:05:04 PM by Blog57 Team | | "In my opinion, this sort of device would be attractive for someone looking for a stylish PDA that doesnt have a phone built-in, rather than someone looking for a portable media player - especially at this price point of AU$499, which puts it on the same footing as the 80GB iPod. While the included 1GB iPAQ File Store is impressive for a Pocket PC, it doesnt compare favourably to other portable media players in this price range."Most reviews of the new HP lineup have focused on big brother - the rx5900 Travel Companion. Courtesy of girlsgonemobile.net we now have a good look at the Mobile Media Companion, the rx4500. While this is mainly a photo review (an in-depth review is forthcoming) first impressions are good, with some nice touches like the SD slot, and the bundled screen cover. As noted the storage isn't terribly big for a dedicated media player, but it does have all the productivity enhancements of Windows Mobile.... | |
