Changing the face of music industry with MP3 software
Posted Monday, February 06, 2006 10:36:51 AM by Rose Martins

Mp3 software is changing the face of the music industry. Artists that are virtually unknown are now able to share their music with the world. MP3 softwareMp3 software allows the artists to record their music cheaply and post it on the net for downloading. Some of the music is downloadable for free; other music is available at a small price.

The free Mp3 track is usually offered as an incentive to the user to purchase additional tracks. The catalogue of music available for download is of huge proportions. The downloaded music can be burned to CD from PC, or downloaded to your Palm, Mp3 player or other portable media device.

According to John Lenihan, director of public relations for MP3.com, one of the largest repositories of MP3 downloads, "The success of consumers embracing this technology is a good indication as to where the future is moving. Just as the eight-track tape came and went, eventually music is going to go to the Net.

The coolest thing about MP3 is that it empowers the artist and the consumer. It returns the power of song ownership back to the artist and allows the consumer to make his own choice."

Arcosoft has announced the release of VONaLink TeamRecord. TeamRecord works with any VoIP phone system based on the open SIP standard, such as Asterisk or Vonage, to centrally record all phone calls for a company workgroup. Call recording benefits a company by allowing business transactions over the phone to be verified and disputes resolved. With traditional phone systems, calls are recorded with either analog equipment or expensive, proprietary products from the phone company. With the latest VoIP systems built on open, standard protocols, calls can be recorded by monitoring network packets. TeamRecord unobtrusively accesses voice data using the port mirroring capability of a network switch. No additional software needs to be installed at each workstation. The call is recorded as a stereo WAV or MP3....

Review: Genius MP3-DJ 520 music player
Posted Tuesday, November 14, 2006 11:34:39 AM by Blog57 Team
Listening to music on the move can be very solitary so the Genius MP3-DJ 520 has an extra headphone socket so that two people can listen at once. Even better, there is an extra set of headphones supplied as well. The media is small and very light and is not going to weigh down any pockets. There is also a microphone built into the front. The DJ 520 is compatible with Windows Media Player so there is no need for any extra software. It is also charged using a standard mini USB plug and one is supplied in the box. Both of these make it very easy to get started. And the FM tuner means that there is always something different to listen to. Sadly the menu system of the 1GB DJ 520 is far from intuitive and it is not always clear how to make selection. This is made worse because the DJ 520 is quite slow to respond to the buttons....

BACK in the warm summer of 2006 we heard that Creative labs finished the design and tweaking of its upcoming Zen refresh MP3 players. It got the drives with Oled display this time, much brighter and much nicer, smaller at the same time and with a significantly better battery life. The first impression when you unpack the small device is that it is freaking small. It might not be the thinnest on market but it sure is the smallest one. It measures 43.5 x 67.5 x 15.9mm and weighs incredibly only 43.5 grams. It comes in a few colours options, the 4 GB and 8 GB version comes in a black casing with blue buttons, the 2 GB comes in black or white but with green keys while the 1 GB has orange buttons and comes in white or black. The real beauty of the device is the Scratch resistant OLED screen we use it for a few days and you can still not see any scratches, but it this can take time....

Audio News for October 31, 2006

Group Founded to Fight for Hi-Def Surround Against the MP3 Hordes - Dr. Mark Waldrep, CEO of Aix Records, is fighting mad about the marketing hype and falsehoods about digital data reduction being promulgated by manufacturers, music companies and audio services. He has founded a nonprofit organization called The High Definition Surround Music Association [HDSMA.org] to create, promote, educate and distribute true hi-def surround music via workshops, giveaways, web tutorials and branding. Hearing the claim that the new terrestrial HD Radio technology ushered in the High Definition age of radio got Waldrep started on his remedy. Actually the "HD" in HD Radio doesn't stand for hi-def but instead for Hybrid Digital - yet the public would naturally connect it with HDTV. HD radio truthfully delivers audio quality less than half that of already-compromised average MP3 files of 128 kbps - often as low as 64 or even 32 kbps....

New Auction Inspector Software Finds Niche Markets in eBay for Sellers
Posted Thursday, October 26, 2006 3:27:44 PM by Blog57 Team
Auction Inspector representative, Pat Davenport, says Auction Inspector addresses a strong need in the eBay seller community. "Like any other retail business, eBay is subject to the laws of supply and demand. Many sellers are beginning to shy away from highly saturated markets, such as those for traditional goods like DVDs, cellphones and mp3 players. They are instead trying to find niches where the competition is less fierce," says Davenport. Auction Inspector identifies potentially profitable niches by examining eBays "Want It Now" section, where shoppers post requests for hard-to-find products. Auction Inspector searches for frequently mentioned items and compares the number of requests with the number of responses from sellers. Items which are frequently requested but receive few replies from sellers are deemed to have high "potential" as a niche product....
