Downloadable Mp3 Ringtones and the first compatible phone.
Posted Monday, February 06, 2006 10:34:17 AM by Rose Martins

Motorola have developed the first cell phone that is compatible with the Apple itunes store. The Motorola ROKR E1 is the first phone with iTunes, able to sync music easily with PCs and Macs, but people expect the phone to have iPod capabilities and sound quality.

RingtonesThe new Motorola phone also has it's limitations. You can only connect it to one computer in order to download tunes. If you try to connect to more than one computer, your music saved in memory will be erased.

The phone's memory is also limited to only 100 songs and also has a separate MP3 player on the Motorola side of the phone that doesn't talk to iTunes at all. If you send a tune to the phone via Bluetooth, it will be stored in the second music player which is also used to manage ringtones.

Ringtones that are downloaded from the internet will also be stored in the second music player, but you won't have free reign. The memory capacity for storing downloaded Mp3 ringtones, is only 5MB of memory or on the built-in 512MB TransFlash card, which is located very inconveniently under the battery.

Many phones have built-in Mp3 players, but the Motorola ROKR E1 is the only phone with an easy way to sync songs and play lists to a PC, including music purchased from the iTunes Music Store.

Is it really "buzz" we hear — or just static?

Tapes 'n Tapes. Beirut. TV on the Radio. Cold War Kids. Lupe Fiasco. Lily Allen. Birdmonster. Grizzly Bear. Sufjan Stevens. The Knife. Clipse. Destroyer. The Hold Steady. Joanna Newsom. These were, by a certain measure, the most important new musicians of 2006. Heard half of them? If you're a casual or even moderately engaged pop fan, possibly not; your ears are busy with commercial radio, ringtones and music television. If you're involved in the music industry, you know the names and might have heard some music. But if you're one of those people creating that rare and ever-present commodity, "buzz," you not only know these artists — you might have touted one as "the only band that matters." In 1979, the Clash's record label, Epic, coined that phrase to describe England's brainiest punks to American record buyers....

Posted Wednesday, November 15, 2006 1:06:52 PM by Blog57 Team
Los Angeles, CA (FV Newswire) - Todd Cardin has announced that he will be releasing more answering service ringtones in October of this year. His first wave of ringtones were so successful that the demand has been overwhelming. Todd Cardin was amazed at the questions that were raised when his first answering service ringtones were made available to the public. Many of his customers were not even familiar with the technology, let alone how to use them with their answering services. Ringtone refers to a variety of sound effects and melodies used to alert a phone owner of an incoming call. Ringtones can be a sound effect, a monophonic melody made of similar tones, polyphonic melodies made of various instruments or even an actual song, in the form of MP3 music. Most manufacturers design their phones so that users can not only choose from many musical ringtones but also program their own for a very personalized ringtone and, in other cases, ringtones can be downloaded through a WAP connection....

Music to our ears:Ringtones define who we are

We've all been there: a boardroom meeting to discuss the future of the company; a visit to the doctor's office for a sobering prognosis; a heartfelt one-on-one talk with a family member. Then - out of nowhere - comes, "Raise your hands, all you party people." Steel drums kick in, followed by a tambourine. The cell phone owner makes a mad dash to turn the blaring phone off, often wearing his mortification on his sleeve. Personalized cell phone ringtones are everywhere, blaring snippets of chart-topping pop tunes, TV theme songs, and memorable movie lines wherever you go. Like a new handbag, an unbeatable pair of jeans, or a favorite T-shirt, the song resounding from your phone is another expression of your personality. "The mobile phone has become something like a status symbol and something people use to express themselves," says Markus Berger-DeLeon, president of mobile content company Jamster....

Techie Faces Orrin Hatch Nov. 7
Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2006 1:26:27 PM by Blog57 Team
Orrin Hatch, the entertainment industry-affiliated Republican who made it a federal crime to play a DVD on a Linux computer and tried to enable copyright holders to destroy the computers of suspected copyright infringers, is accustomed to representing Utah in the United States Senate. After voters head to the polls on Nov. 7, he will most likely continue to do. But it won't be because there was no young, straight-shooting, idealistic, tech-savvy candidate there to oppose him. His name is Pete Ashdown, and if anyone can clue Congress in to technology before it legislates the internet into a bunch of pneumatic tubes, it's Ashdown, who breathes bytes and exhales bits. He founded XMission (the first and largest ISP in Utah), deejayed raves and posted a Wiki version of his campaign platform for anyone to edit....
